Since I’m new to the whole blog scene, I’ll start by introducing myself. In my ‘day job’ I work as a storyboard artist for film, animation and TV. I recently finished storyboarding some delightfully gory sequences for Saw 3, recently shot here in Toronto. Additionally, I sometimes work as a writer for animation and children’s entertainment.
Also, whenever possible, I write and draw comics. My most recent published comics are as a writer for the Looney Tunestitle at DC Comics, and as writer / artist on the backup story in issue 4 of the Planet Of The Apes title from Mr. Comics. I recently collaborated as the artist on a story for Phantom Jack writer Mike San Giacomo’s, Tales From The Starlight Drive-in, which should be released sometime this summer.
When all that stuff doesn’t keep me busy, I also perform improv and sketch comedy at local Toronto comedy spots, such as the Bad Dog Theatre and Timothy’s on the Danforth. I have been teaching improv for over 20 years and I spent several semesters teaching storyboarding to students at Max The Mutt animation school.
So that’s me, professionally speaking at least. I hope you find the entries in this instructional series helpful and informative. Next week we jump right into the whole writing thing!
